Has it occured to anyone in the KEB ,that this city has a centre piece which is a well fortified palace.Insteard of spending funds meaninglessly on just lighting up the streets of the city ,we could carry out concept lighting in the city providing it a fantacy look at nights. This could boost tourism (Both national and international) In the past proximity to Bangalore has been a disadvantage to tourist related businesses.
Should we showcase Mysore as a city to be seen at night (as is the cente piece is),overnighter stays would turn the hotel industry around leading to high class accomodation facility opening up possibilityies of investment in worldclass entertainment facilities.
Our city has gained recognition as a international yoga centre and we house a good number of foriegn nationals already. Each such visiting group work as our embasadors to propagate the message 'must visit destination while in India'.
I'm certain a company like philips would be intrested in such a plan if we guys can manage it.

Couldn't agree with you more, Vinod. I would, indeed, go a step further, saying the spleandour and the magnificance of the palace cries out for a full-fledged sound-and-light show, with some high drama worked into the script. A 30 to 45-minute show, and two ticketed shows in the evening, would marry well with Vinod's suggestion to talk day-trippers to Mysore into overnight stay here.

But then one gets a lurking feeling that the idea would be shot down by those who argue that there isn't enough power supply to meet more basic needs. Couldn't we think in terms of solar techology to power 'the concept lighting' idea ? Or am I putting my foot into you-know-where ?
