IT - NRNs and the millions without a voice!

I've said millions without a voice - the millions; read- hypocrites who  will not use their voice and would like to move with the crowd.  Five years ago on discovering something of an inside information my opinion of NRN just fell and when I said he was not worth a dime  I was silenced and looked down upon as a cynic - probably a disgruntled  'crack' - Fortunately today I have some  people on my side speaking up what is true and my voice can be heard.

Where was Sudha murthy some years ago - where from did she get her recognition as a literateur?  a philanthrophist?  Why have the 'down to earth moderate' murthy's educated their children in the high profile Bishop Cottons - this may be their personal matter but since they've received column space on this I have the right to criticize too.

My message to anyone eulogising the Murthy's - Infy has paid a hefty sum to their PR agencies to do their job which they've done well - why are we working as an extension of this firm for free!

What concerns me to the core is the damage they are going to do to Mysore and before we wink it's too late.  Being a journalist for long and into the thick of HR now, I'd like to awaken the people of Mysore - its your time to stand up and put your foot down.  The techies tell me - there's no night life in mysore - its a sleepy place- too boring - nowhere to go after work or simply hang out!

1. NRN and his likes are going to do everything to retain these techies in Mysore - so you will have more pubs, restaurants and  hip culture.  You'll have more 'outsiders' plonking on this soil, buying property, have a couldn't care less attitude in what they do, and claim that "mysore has been made because of the migrants" ;like they've done in case of Bangalore.  They give nothing good in return to the land that feeds them

2. The entertainment industry is going  to take cue and bingo Mysore is going to be swarming with the IT culture of permissiveness.

3.  What was Murthy's ( and his friends) purpose of bringing IT to Mysore and what will be the end result - ask how many kannadigas will be employed, how many outsiders will be on its payroll- the ratio I can tell is going to be imbalanced as in all other IT companies in Blore.

4.  I'd like to see IT companies being transparent and answerable in their hiring policy - can anyone of us question them - will they give us the answers ? They're a law onto themselves

5.  Land value and all other essentials are going to skyrocket imbalancing the socio economic structure; making  life difficult for the locals.  This has happened in Blore.

Mysore's identity is in its old heritage and charm of traditionality.  A thousand NRNs cannot bring it back if one NRN destroys it.

Hyderabad and Chennai have held on to their originality inspite of IT - Chennai is protesting deviations. Bangalore has given way - you'll find in this city girls in a severely inebriated condition being on road past midnight.  I shall not elaborate - but is this where we'd like Mysore to head.  IT at what cost.

My dear Mysorean friends SAVE YOUR CITY.  Don't let it go the Bangalore way.

It was amusing to read this piece.  Yes, I do not live in Mysore now and I do not know if I have the right to say anything that would even remotely have any impact on my life.  However, let me say this.  I do not know if Mr. NRN is worth a "dime" or a "dollar"  but the owners of Infosys, the shareholders who had the courage to get on the bandwagon first are worth millions.  I wish I was on this bandwagon so I could also join Infosys in the "land grabbing" game.  Infosys is primarily answerable to its owners the "shareholders."   If it could do anything within the law to get the stock prices up, I would say go for it.  "Land grabbing"  (I would call it "foresight") go for it.  Now is Mysore  only for Mysoreans?  Silly.  Wake up.  Let the best win.

While on the subject of IT Captain's Grievances, I personally feel, It will not be too long before people realise the hypocrisy associated with IT entrepreneurs.
In a manufacturing sector, the government gets revenue in terms of: Excise(Central), Sales Tax(State) & Octroi(Local Bodies like Municipal Corporation). Apart from this, Centre also get Income Tax revenues from the company as well as the individuals who earns out of their business.
What do the government give in return:
> Land at lowest possible rates in the world. (In most countries land is not available even at a premium)
> Tax Holidays
> Special Proposals for each sector in BUDGET
> Cheapest highly skilled Manpower in the world
> Infrastructure like; Road, Social Security, Power Distribution, Water, etc. etc.
> Subsidies extended on Education of people who work for them.(This will be most for IT, as they hire only professional degree holders)
What does IT industries contribute?
One Manufacturing Industry like TELCO or Maruthi promote lots & Lots of ancillary units all of whom contribute in terms of excise duty, Sales Tax.Octroi/local levies. Apart from this, they also employ people both Skilled & unskiled!!!
What should we promote???? IT .....or manufacturing industries like HARYANA.
I have always wondered, why these IT Giants whose budgets are no lesses than some states, adopt different localities and develop them to their tastes? Is it not their moral responsibility? Can't they run free/subsidised hospitals & educational institutions for the upliftment of local standards & assist government who have helped them in establishing their business?
Is Bangalore worse then what it was 20 years back? How come, the same place which was so good while setting up their business, is all bad now???
Gentlemen, when it is pay-back time, you migrate to other states..is it what we expect from most lovable & respected Captains of IT Industry???
It will not be too long before everyone realises the HYPOCRISY & start criticizing Great NMs instead of Deve Gowdas!!!
Before it is too late, can we try & rectify??
