Revive Mysore civic journal

My father, late G.L.Swamy, known as compiler of handbooks, used to publish Mysore Municipal Journal, bilingual, in the 50s, in Kannada and English. Calcutta Municipality used to do it. More recently, during a visit to Auckland (NZ) I found the corporation there brought out a monthly, AK@05, wherein information pertaining to the civic body’s monthly programme (inspections, meetings etc), tenders, public suggestions received in the previous month for public review, public petitions was published for public awareness and comments. Copies were supplied to each and every house free of cost.
The Mysore City Corporation should revive Mysore Municipal Journal, giving all information about its working, plans and programmes. The journal should be kept in the City Corporation mohalla offices. Even if it is priced a nominal Rs 1 or 2, it does not matter. All those concerned about Mysore will not hesitate to buy a copy and file their objections/suggestions which should be heard in public at town hall and a public meeting once a month.

Would be nice if Mr Satya could dig out from his attic some issues of his father’s journal; and share with us excerpts so that we get a feel of Mysore’s civic concerns in the 50s. Just curious to  know if they were any different from the concerns of Mysoreans today.
