Elsewhere on this site I wrote, by way of a comment to the post – ‘Let’s talk infrastructure’, the process defined by the NURM grant scheme is elaborate, as Dr.Shenoy has spelt out, ,but one worth following to bring about engagement between various stakeholders leading to transparency, assigning responsibility, accountability, and measurement/evaluation. The challenge is to move from platitudes to practice, from derailing the process by getting into detail without agreeing on the broad contours of minimum deliverables..
It occurred to me one could make a start, in citizen involvement, by improving public conveniences at major termini, markets, government buildings; improve pedestrian flows from major hubs; garbage disposal and drainage; privatise distribution of power; rationalise kiosks and stalls for petty retail activity; and create a landmark civic centre with mixed use facilities
