Deccan Herald carries a story on the state of our (un)prepardness for Dasara Exhibition that is scheduled to open today (Sept 23). Exhibition to take off late, as usual, says the headline to the story that carries a photograph of unoccupied/unreadied stalls at the exhibition grounds.
Maybe, expo organizers and stall-holders think nothing of a few days’ delay in the start of the exhibition that is, anyway, slated to remain open till December. But the newspaper says ‘delay’ is the middle name of Mysore Dasara Exhibition. And the late start this year is in keeping with the tradition.
Puntuality (click here to see post) may not be among our strengths. But such unconcern can do Mysore in. The question we must ask ourselves is : Do we have it in us to get anything done on time ? Chronic lateness appears to run in the Mysorean blood. In attitude we betray contempt for the clock.
